Terry Bradshaw Interview

Early in your broadcast career you wore a toupee for commercials and appearances. Any embarrassing moments?
(laughs) Let me tell you something about that toupee. That was the stupidest thing I had ever done in my life. I have proven to myself that I have no pride. It was anything for a buck back then, because you weren't making any money. I can't believe I agreed to do that. I had that thing on, standing infront of my apartment. Anytime I was in public I had to wear it. I remember talking to people on the street in the dead of winter. It's snowing like crazy, and I would have sweat pouring down my face. I used to take it off and stuff it in my back pocket, until one day when I got turned in by someone who spotted me on the golf course when I wasn't wearing the toupee, and I was fired as the company spokesperson.

Is it true back in the day when it was you, JB and Collinsworth on the FOX pregame show that their wives would freak out if word got back to them that they were checking out Jillian Barberie?
JB was always bumping my feet, and he would say, "that's fine". And if I quoted him, he'd be like, "I didn't say that." One day Collinsworth got busted checking Jillian out. He paid for it when he got home. I love to always give Howie a nudge saying, just check her out. He's like I'm not gettting busted. I always liked to ask Jillian how the weather was in "the mountains".

Were the Steelers of the 70's as mean and tough as people thought?
I remember one day putting a Gatorade bottle between my legs and going into the shower and Jack Lambert was there. The gatorade bottle was orange and I started to squeeze it on my thighs and I grabbed my johnson and peed all this orange stuff all over his leg, or atleast he thought I was peeing. He looked at me and said, "you bastard! If you are pissing on me I am going to kick your ass." I said in this quiet voice, man it is just gatorade.

Is it true that former Green Bay Packer, Ray Nitschke wanted to deck you on the set when you had him in studio?
There are two stories with Ray. First he came into studio to demonstrate how to get to the quarterback and I told him he may have got through but he wouldn't have been able to sack a guy like me. He asked what I meant. I told him, " I am alot bigger than you, I'd take you, push you aside and move on." He said, "Let's see about that." He then started to take his glasses and coat off. He took it as a direct challenge. I said we need to go to a commercial break. The following year we take the show on the road to Green Bay and he was demonstrating something again on the show. It was a cold day and he hit me in the chest and drove me into the ground. I'm not sure how old he was but old enough that he shouldn't be doing what he was doing. He absolutely hammered me. He went into combat mode. It was like this guy had a flashback.

Is it true that your former teammate Lynn Swann ripped you when he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame?
He said that I deliberately didn't throw passes to him at the end of his caree, that I couldn't read defenses, and he wanted to kill me after one particular game. If I never see the guy the rest of my life, I'll be fine with that. I just don't have enough time in my life to have it filled with negative things.
